The Hotels That Stood Out In 2024
A great hotel is more than just a place to sleep – it can define an entire trip. This year, our team stayed at some of the best properties in the world, and a few stood out as truly exceptional.
From tropical resorts with stunning pools to city hotels that capture the essence of their destination, these properties delivered unforgettable experiences, incredible service, and outstanding value on points and miles. Some offered pure luxury, while others were surprisingly practical and rewarding for elite members.
Here are the stays that left the biggest impression on us.
Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa

The Park Hyatt Maldives is, without a doubt, one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had.
From the moment we landed in Malé, the hotel staff took care of everything, ensuring a completely seamless and stress-free journey to the island. Once we arrived, the only decision I had to make was how best to relax.
As our stay went on, the service became even more personalized. The staff quickly learned our preferences, anticipating what we wanted before we even realized it ourselves. It was this level of thoughtful hospitality that made the experience feel so effortless and indulgent.
The island itself is immaculate, with every detail reflecting a deep commitment to eco-conscious luxury. The villas, the spa, and even the common spaces blend seamlessly into the natural surroundings, creating a serene and private retreat.
Each villa is incredibly spacious, more like a luxury suite than a typical hotel room. Whether lounging on the deck of an overwater villa, soaking in our private pool, or resting in the ultra-soft bed, every moment felt like pure relaxation.
Beyond the accommodations, the respect for the ocean at the hotel was evident in its curated activities. We had the chance to snorkel, dive, swim with sea turtles, and even take a sunset dolphin cruise. Every experience was designed not just for enjoyment but also to deepen our appreciation for the delicate marine ecosystem.
Dining was another highlight. Every meal featured the freshest ingredients, with flavors from across Asia served in stunning settings. While the food is expensive, Hyatt Globalist benefits made a huge difference, saving us thousands of dollars on dining and drinks thanks to the generous property perks.

Conrad Bali

After nearly three weeks in Bali on a family vacation – staying at the InterContinental Bali, Westin Ubud, and Andaz Bali – we did not expect our last stop to be our favorite. But Conrad Bali quickly won us over.
Thanks to Hilton Honors Diamond status, we were upgraded to one of the best rooms in the hotel, with direct pool access from our balcony. The massive lagoon-style pool, one of the largest in Bali, was perfect for families, with shallow beach-like areas that kept the kids entertained for hours.
Our Diamond benefits were incredible, adding over $10,000 in value during our five day stay with perks like a suite upgrade, free breakfast, meal discounts, complimentary afternoon tea, a complimentary cocktail hour, and a generous property credit.
Breakfast was a highlight, featuring an expansive spread of Western (pancakes, waffles, eggs, etc) and Asian favorites (fried noodles, dimsum, rice, etc). I loved starting the day with a fresh noodle soup.
The staff was outstanding, offering warm, personalized service at every interaction. Our kids even received a stuffed Balinese monkey, a signature Conrad touch.
The beachfront location made for perfect evening strolls along the boardwalk, and the traditional Balinese performances at dinner were a hit with the whole family.
By the time we left, one thing was certain: we were already planning our next stay.

Park Hyatt London River Thames

From the moment I stepped into the Park Hyatt London River Thames, I knew this hotel was something special.
Opened in October 2024, it offers a refined and peaceful escape from the nonstop energy of the city. The elegant lobby, adorned with stunning artwork and meticulous craftsmanship, immediately set the tone for a luxurious stay. The rooms are spacious by London standards, with a thoughtful layout and high-end amenities that made me feel right at home. Every detail, from the plush bedding to the sleek design, was perfectly curated for both comfort and style.
One of my favorite parts of the stay was the wellness facilities. The gym is state-of-the-art, and the pool – a true architectural masterpiece – felt like a hidden oasis in the middle of the city. After long days exploring London, this was the perfect place to unwind.
Dining at one of the multiple restaurants and bars at the hotel was another highlight. Breakfast, complimentary for Hyatt Globalists, includes an à la carte menu with global dishes alongside a small buffet, ensuring plenty of options for every taste.
What truly stood out, though, was the service. Every interaction felt effortless yet thoughtful, with the staff delivering the kind of personalized hospitality that defines a truly great hotel.

Andaz Bali

When I arrived at Andaz Bali and saw the beautiful Hindu water feature at the entrance, I instantly knew the hotel would become one of my favorites.
It is absolutely stunning, with lush gardens and traditional Balinese architecture that make it feel like a hidden oasis in one of the busiest areas in Bali. Despite being right in the heart of Sanur, the hotel is peaceful and relaxing, with multiple pools to suit every mood: a meditation pool for quiet escapes, a kids pool for family fun, and a main pool with a lively atmosphere.
The beachfront location is another highlight. The hotel sits right on the boardwalk, so there are plenty of shops and restaurants to explore just steps away.
The staff went above and beyond, especially with my kids. They would play with them at the pool, surprise them with little treats throughout the day, and genuinely make them feel welcome. The kids club is modern and well-equipped, though I was not a fan of the two-hour time limit per day.
As an Andaz property, the hotel offers free minibar snacks and non-alcoholic drinks, which is one of my favorite features. There is also a lounge area with complimentary coffee, tea, daily drinks, and snacks available throughout the day, making it easy to grab a refreshment or quick nibble without heading to a restaurant.
Breakfast here is fully à la carte (unlimited orders), with a fantastic mix of Western and traditional Indonesian dishes, all complimentary for Globalists.

Thompson Nashville, by Hyatt

One of the things I appreciate most about a hotel is when its design and atmosphere truly reflect its location – and the Thompson Nashville nails this perfectly. From the moment I walked in, I could feel the music culture of the city woven into the experience, from the Southern chic décor to the curated vinyl record collection by country star Eric Church.
The location is another win. Just a 10-minute walk from Broadway, the hotel is close enough to enjoy the vibrant nightlife in Nashville, but far enough to offer a peaceful retreat after a night out. It is the best of both worlds.
Service is where the Thompson really shines. The staff embodies true Southern hospitality, with the kind of warmth and attentiveness that feels like it comes straight from the playbook of my grandmother. Every interaction felt genuine and welcoming, making the stay even more enjoyable.
As expected from a Thompson hotel, the food and beverage program is outstanding. From perfectly crispy fried chicken to expertly crafted whiskey cocktails, every meal felt like an upscale twist on a Southern family dinner. Even the morning coffee shop options were impressive, making it easy to start the day on a high note.
And for Hyatt Globalists, the perks here are next-level. We received a massive suite upgrade, and breakfast was complimentary at both the signature restaurant and the coffee shop, adding even more value to an already fantastic stay.

Hyatt Regency Zurich Airport The Circle

If there is one hotel I know better than any other, it is the Hyatt Regency Zurich Airport The Circle. My family and I stay here eight to ten times a year, usually before or after big trips.
It is not the most luxurious hotel, but it has become a personal favorite because of how practical and reliable it is.
Since I live an hour and a half from the airport, staying here makes early morning flights so much easier. It is just a five-minute walk to the terminal, which means no stress about traffic, last-minute delays, or getting the kids out of bed at 4 A.M.
One of the best parts of staying here is the consistent suite upgrades; I get upgraded almost 90% of the time. The suites are huge, and I have even been offered the Presidential Suite before (though I had to pass because the timing did not work out).
The Regency Club Lounge is also a great perk, with enough food at dinner to skip eating out. Breakfast is just as good, with made-to-order options like eggs benedict and shakshuka, plus a solid buffet with muesli, eggs, bacon, potatoes, and fresh bread.

How We Earned The Points
Staying at world-class hotels for little to no cash is one of the best parts of maximizing points and miles. Every hotel on this list was booked using rewards, and earning those points was easier than you might think – thanks to the right credit card strategies.
For most of these redemptions, we focused on flexible points programs like Chase Ultimate Rewards and American Express Membership Rewards, which transfer to major hotel loyalty programs like Hyatt and Hilton respectively. Additionally, co-branded hotel credit cards helped us rack up points faster and unlock elite status perks that made our stays even better.
Here are some of the key credit cards that powered these redemptions:
World of Hyatt
- Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card
- Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card
- Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card
- Ink Business Cash® Credit Card
- World of Hyatt Credit Card
Hilton Honors
- Hilton Honors American Express Aspire
- Hilton Honors American Express Surpass® Card
- Hilton Honors American Express Business Card

Whether it was an overwater villa in the Maldives, a beachfront escape in Bali, or a city hotel that captured the spirit of its destination, each stay left a lasting impression.

By using smart credit card strategies and leveraging elite status perks, we turned everyday spending into luxury stays, free upgrades, and VIP treatment – proving once again that maximizing travel rewards is worth the effort.
