At the start of 2024, the rumors of an impending end to the World Of Hyatt and Small Luxury Hotels partnership began. Those rumors quickly became facts, as Small Luxury Hotels announced strategic partnerships with both Capital One Travel and Hilton Hotels. As the dust finally settles, there are now more details regarding the end of the partnership.

World Of Hyatt And Small Luxury Hotels End Partnership

World of Hyatt officially announced the end date for the partnership with Small Luxury Hotels of the World: May 15th, 2024. Here is what the end of this partnerships means for customers:

Reservations At Small Luxury Hotels Properties

Existing Reservations

• Check In Date On Or Before May 15th, 2024: Eligible paid and award stays at Small Luxury Hotels of the World will be honored and all benefits (i.e. earning points, earning elite night credits, free breakfast, suite upgrades, etc) will be earned.
• Check In Date After May 15th, 2024: The stay will be honored, but World of Hyatt benefits (i.e. earning points, earning elite night credits, free breakfast, suite upgrades, etc) will no longer be available at Small Luxury Hotels of the World.

New Reservations

• Check Out Date On Or Before May 15th, 2024: New reservations can be made through the World of Hyatt channels (i.e. app and website) for stays with a checkout date before May 15th, 2024.
• Check Out Date After May 15th, 2024: No new reservations are possible through the World of Hyatt channels (i.e. app and website) for stays with a checkout date after May 15th, 2024.

Reservation Cancelations

• On Or Before May 15th, 2024: Contact a Hyatt Global Care Center at 1-888-848-9496 (or 1-402-952-1131 if outside the United States)
• After May 15th, 2024: Contact Small Luxury Hotels of the World directly for cancellations to paid and award reservations at 1-212-953-0118 or at hyattreservations@slh.com.

Reservations Modifications

• On Or Before May 15th, 2024: Contact a Hyatt Global Care Center at 1-888-848-9496 (or 1-402-952-1131 if outside the United States)
• After May 15th, 2024: To modify a reservation, both paid and award stays will need to be cancelled directly with Small Luxury Hotels of the World at 1-212-953-0118 or at hyattreservations@slh.com.

Additional World of Hyatt Program and Benefits

• World of Hyatt Credit Card holders will continue to earn 4x bonus points for every eligible dollar spent on their card at participating Small Luxury Hotels of the World locations until August 31, 2024.

As part of the announcement, Hyatt hinted at the impending integration of the Mr & Mrs Smith properties into the World of Hyatt program.

Final Thoughts

While the end to any long-term partnership is painful, this one feels especially painful from a customer perspective. As available dates at Small Luxury Hotels are sometimes difficult to find, many travelers book months in advance. This holds especially true for those with plans for a summer vacation in Europe, where Small Luxury Hotels has a massive footprint. As the partnership officially ends before the peak summer period, World Of Hyatt members lose any and all benefits after May 15th, 2024. Those World of Hyatt members with existing reservations or careful curated plans to reach Globalist in 2024 are left with a tough decision: keep the reservation with no benefits or scramble to find new accommodations.
